What We Believe

Each church operates under beliefs and convictions - Based on biblical truths, you can find ours below!

Who We Are

We are a non-denominational Christian church that is a part of the restoration movement.

  • Non-denominational - not aligned with one specific, organized religious leadership

  • Church - the body of Christ and community of believers

  • Restoration - restoring the “church” to the practices of the first churches found in Acts and restoring the mission of making disciples while being guided by biblical truth and acting in love.

Our Vision: Our goal is to give Hope Within View as we Reach the Lost, Teach the Saved, and Love them Both.
As Christ-followers, we are Driven by Truth, Dependent on God, Daring to Act, Dedicated to Family, and Devoted to Unity.

About God

We believe in one, holy God, who eternally exists in three persons - (referred to as the Trinity) Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who are one in essence and equal in power. God is the creator and sustainer of all things visible and invisible. He is perfect in wisdom, power, and love, knowing all things past, present, and future.

Genesis 1:1, 26-27, 3:22 | Deuteronomy 6:4 | Psalms 90:2 | Matthew 28:19 | John 1:1-3, 14, 14:26 | 2 Corinthians 13:14 | Ephesians 1:9-10 | Hebrews 11:3 | 1 Peter 1:2 | Rev 1:8

About Jesus

Jesus Christ is the only Son of God, born of a virgin. He is fully divine and fully human. Jesus, who lived a life without sin, took the punishment for all sin and died as a substitutionary sacrifice, bearing divine judgment and reconciling to God all who trust in him. Jesus rose from the dead in bodily form in victory over sin and death. He ascended into heaven, where he now reigns as our High Priest, Advocate, until the day of his glorious return.

Isaiah 9:6 | Matthew 1:2:2-23, 16:16-17, 28:18 | John 1:1-5, 3:16, 8:58, 10:30-38, 12:45, 14:6,10-30, 17:5,24 | Romans 1:3-4 | Colossians 1:15 | 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 | 2 Corinthians 5:18-21 | Hebrews 1:3, 2:14-18, 4:14-15

About the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the part of God that lives in us. It is one with God the Father and Jesus Christ. Those who accept Christ as their Savior receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, which dwells within the believer to transform, guide, assure, gift, and empower the believer for godly living and service. The Holy Spirit gives gifts of ministry to each one for the good of the body of believers. We do not believe that sign gifts exist to prove someone is saved, nor should they be practiced to draw attention to the individual.

Matthew 28:19 | John 14:26, 16:8-11 | Acts 2:38, 5:3-4 | Ephesians 1:13-14 | Galatians 3:2, 5:22-25 | 1 Corinthians 12:2- | 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 | Hebrews 9:14

About the Church

We believe the church is the body of Christ on earth, with Christ as the head. God's church is comprised of all believers, serving as ministers of the gospel, making disciples of Jesus Christ of every tribe, people, and language, and equipping believers until Christ returns.

Matthew 28:18-20 | Ephesians 3:10, 4:11-16; 5:23b | Colossians 1:8 | 1 Peter 2:9-10 | Revelation 7:9

About the Bible

The Bible is divinely inspired by God, without error, given to man so that we may know and

understand the truth of God and His love. It is the final authority in all matters of faith and living.

Each believer is encouraged to read and study it for themselves.

Psalm 119:105, 160 | Proverbs 30:5 | 2 Timothy 1:13, 3:16-17 | 2 Peter 1:20-21 | Hebrews 4:12

About Satan

Mountain View Christian Church has but one enemy - Satan. He desires to "kill, steal, and destroy."

Job 1:6 | Matthew 4:1 | John 10:10 | Ephesians 6:12 | 2 Corinthians 11:14 | 2 Thessalonians 2:8-9 | Hebrews 2:14 | 1 Peter 5:8 | 1 John 3:8

About the Humanity and Sin

God created all humans, male and female, in God's image, giving all people value and purpose. The sin of the first man and woman (Adam and Eve) thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God, and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature. The Bible defines sin as "missing the mark" of God's standard, or in a word, disobedience. Everyone sins and falls short of the glory of God, which breaks our union with God, alienating us without hope apart from the blood of Jesus. No amount of human effort can restore our relationship with God.

Genesis 1:26-27, Chapter 3 | Psalm 8:3-6 | Isaiah 53:6, 59:1-2 | Romans 3:23-26, 5:12 | Ephesians 2:1-2, 10

About the Salvation, Baptism, and Communion

Salvation is not something that can be purchased or earned. It is a free gift from God provided by Jesus's sacrifice on the cross and is received through faith. It is available to everyone who accepts Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. That faith is expressed through repentance and confession of sin, baptism by immersion, and a life of obedience. We believe that when a person is saved, they are sealed with the Holy Spirit, will persevere in Christ until the end of their life journey, and are eternally secure in Christ. The Holy Spirit continually transforms the believer in their walk with Christ.

Matthew 24:13 | John 6:37-39, 8:29 |Acts 2:38 | Romans 3:23, 5:9, 12, 6:3-7 | 1 Corinthians 6:11 | Ephesians 1:13, 2:4-10 | Galatians 3:26-29 | Titus 2:14 | 1 John 1:7

We believe that baptism is the immersion into water by an obedient believer. In the New

Testament church, every believer was commanded to be baptized in a manner of being united to

the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Romans 6:3-5 | Acts 2:36-41

We believe Jesus established two ordinances for believers: The Lord's Supper (Communion) and

Baptism. Only Christians who have carefully examined themselves should partake of this supper.

The Bible does not set a prescribed time for observing this supper, but we make it available each.

Sunday.

Acts 20:7 | 1 Corinthians 11:23-32

About the Return of Christ

We believe Christ will visibly return to restore creation and judge the world. He will forever reign as King of kings and Lord of lords. There will be a bodily resurrection for the believers to eternal life with God in heaven and on the new earth, where sin will be no more, and those in Christ will live in fellowship with God forever. Unbelievers will spend eternal judgment in hell along with the devil and his demons.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

About Creation

We believe that God spoke the world and life into existence by spoken word according to Genesis 1-2 in six literal 24-hour days.

John 1:1-3 | Hebrews 11:3

About Stewardship

Stewardship is giving back to God through finances, abilities, and time. God is the giver of all good and perfect gifts and, therefore, the owner of all things before and after they have been given to us. God promises to reward those who faithfully give back to Him with His blessings. His blessings are provided in accordance with man's faithfulness and generosity.

Malachi 3:8-10 | Luke 6:38 | Romans 12:8 | 2 Corinthians 9:7 | James 1:17

About Marriage

We believe that we are created uniquely as male and female. We believe the Bible teaches that God established marriage in the beginning as a lifelong, exclusive relationship between one man and one woman, that He has reserved sexual intimacy as an expression of love and commitment between married couples, and that any intimate expression of sexuality outside of Biblical marriage is sin.

Genesis 2:22-35 | Matthew 19:4-6 | Romans 1:18-31
